The Russian River Valley is well established as one of the finest Pinot Noir growing regions in the world. We have been growing, and making Pinot Noir here for over forty years. Our Reserve is the winemaker's artisanal blend of individual wines made from time-tested, meticulously farmed sections of some of the very best vineyards in Russian River Valley. Each lot is vinified separately, aged in our finest barrels, and then selected by the winemaking team for complexity, concentration, and grace. It's literally a matter of taste.

We craft our Reserve Pinot Noir in our small lot winemaking facility, the Artisan Cellar. Winemaker Greg Morthole employs cutting edge techniques such as cluster pre-sorting, berry sorting, cold soaking, and thermal maceration. This wine is aged sur lie, with monthly bâtonnage which imparts an elegant fullness and creamy texture on the palate. With small tanks and equipment sized for the most discriminating vineyard selection process, our facility is truly state of the art, and represents the Klein family commitment towards producing the finest wines possible.
The temperature during the 2018 growing season was very mild with low precipitation, only 23 inches of rain. Only nine days over 90F were recorded and none over 100F. Picking started a week later than it did for the much warmer 2017 vintage. Very cool and overcast mornings predominated early September and our harvest as we hand-picked the first vineyard on September 12, high up in the Eastern Hills neighborhood of the Russian River Valley. We waited until October 4 to hand-pick the second vineyard in the Santa Rosa Plains neighborhood, just a half mile from the Laguna de Santa Rosa.
