2018 Cabernet Franc
Description
Winemaking Notes
Rich with aromas of brown sugar, plum and baking spices with flavors of dusty oak, plum and cherry with rm annins and a long, smooth nish. Perfect when paired with a New York strip steak, grilled cheese with caramelized bacon or even a classically smoky pulled pork sandwich.
History
For our 2018 Reserve Cabernet Franc, select areas within each vineyard are hand harvested, fermented separately and aged in the finest French oak. After each lot is tasted and graded, only the best are considered. the blend is then assembled and the wine is returned to barrels to facilitate flavor integration. The wine is aged an additional 24 months before bottling.
The Vineyards
The 2018 growing season was dry throughout spring with well below normal precipitation. Cooler weather dominated this vintage wiht only two short, relatively mild heat spikes through the entire growing season. Summer days were very pleasant in Sonoma County with highs in the 70s and 80s and with August having even warmer temperatures. With everything in balance, we harvested September 26 through October 17.
