2014 Sonoma County Merlot

Winemaking Notes

Our 2014 Sonoma County Merlot is lush with predominate notes of black cherry, dark berries and plum with a hint of dried herbs. This wine is silky and voluptuous with soft tannins and finishes with a touch of cocoa and vanilla. The luscious dark fruit flavors are enhanced by aging in 100% small French oak barrels.

Food pairings

Enjoy this soft, rich, elegant Merlot over the next two to four years with charcuterie, grilled pork ribs and burgers.

History

The Vineyards

A mild, dry winter encouraged early bud break in Sonoma County in 2014. The growing season was very warm overall, but tempered by overcast days in late July and late August plus a heavy drizzle in early September, which slowed ripening and extended the grapes hang time. We harvested the
Merlot September 9 through October 6 under ideal conditions.
