2020 Red Blend
Description
Winemaking Notes
A powerful red blend from the hillsides of Alexander Valley and high elevation vineyards in rugged Northern Sonoma County, this wine is lush with wild dark berries, plum and minerality. The wine has a nice balance between fruit and earth and finishes with long and lingering vanilla and baking spices. The soft, supple and mature tannins give this wine a strong backbone while the 18 months of barrel aging have softened the wine enough to enjoy now.
33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Zinfandel, 27% Malbec, 12% Petit Verdot

The Vineyards
The Alexander Valley AVA is 22 miles long, ranging in elevation from 150 to 1500 feet above sea level. We've determined the best blocks are typically located just below the ridge tops with a western facing aspect to capture the full warmth and light of the afternoon sun. Heat dominates in the northernmost hills near Brothers Vineyard, with average growing-season temperatures of 67 degrees, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen well. Cooley Vineyard is located in rugged northwestern Sonoma County above Lake Sonoma. The vineyard blocks are planted at high elevations ranging from 800-2,000 feet, on rocky, reddish clay loam volcanic soils.
