Winemaking Notes
A beautiful, bright garnet color, the 2019 2040 has an ethereal nose of red plum, raspberry and warm spices. It’s an expression of Cabernet Sauvignon’s elegance throughout. Beautifully integrated on the palate, the wine is layered with vibrant black fruits, sweet plums, mulberries and cassis. Fresh and alive on the palate, it is framed by very fine tannins, and finishes long and energetically. A sophisticated wine that will age effortlessly for more than a decade.
Vineyard Notes
This high-elevation wine comprises Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the highest block of the wild and expansive Cooley Ranch in the far western reaches of Sonoma County. The block named Sky High sits 2,040 feet above sea level, towering above all neighboring peaks. Grapes up there look down on everything: Hawks surfing thermals in mid-air, mountains beyond mountains to the north, and the gentle waters of Lake Sonoma. The steep slopes of the vineyard force vines to dig deep into the soil for nutrients and water, ultimately resulting in thick-skinned grapes with bold yet complicated flavors.
