Russian River Valley
2019 Pommard Clone Pinot Noir

Winemaking Notes
Savory leather, earth, caramel and creamy oak tones predominate the aromas on our 2019 Pommard Clone Pinot Noir, which show hints of cream soda, butterscotch and gunflint. The luxurious body is rich and soft and the flavors are complemented by vanilla wafer, toasted marshmallow and a touch of dried cherry leather through a smooth and balanced finish.
Vineyard Notes
The vines at Jane’s Vineyard generally show moderate vigor in their growth habit, mainly due to the acidic, nutrient poor soil and good drainage from the gravelly
loam. The Huichica soil is shallow so we planted on rootstock that has a shallower rooting angle to match the soil profile. The Pommard block vine rows
are oriented north/south so the grapes receive a fairly even amount of sun on both sides, allowing the fruit to ripen, while the cool nights allow the vines to retain their acidity
Production Notes
The 2019 growing season started off very wet, with several major storms dropping 150% of the annual rainfall by April. Temperatures were generally mild throughout the summer, with only a few notable heat events in early June and August. This single-block was hand-picked in the early morning of September 13 at optimal ripeness.
