Winemaking Notes
A bold red blend that weaves together high elevation Cabernet from the rugged mountains of Northern
Sonoma County with juicy Dry Creek Valley Malbec and old vine Russian River Zinfandel, this wine is
unique and expressive, with wild dark berries, plum and minerality. The wine has a perfect balance
between savory and fruity elements and finishes with long and lingering vanilla and baking spices.
The soft, supple and mature tannins give this wine a strong backbone while the 16 months of barrel
aging have softened the wine enough to enjoy now.
Production Notes
The 2022 vintage was dry and mild. Rain from the previous autumn was light, and the new year was
warm and dry with daytime highs up to 70°F in early spring. After a few light sprinkles in the late
spring and early summer, the temperature climbed into the triple digits a few days in June, but the
season was mild overall, with most summer days peaking around 85-90°F. The balance of moderately
high daytime temperatures and cool evenings yielded ideal flavor concentration and mild acidity.
Due to the dry and seasonable weather, harvest came expectedly earlier than previous vintages,
starting with Dry Creek Valley Malbec on September 5th and wrapping up with our high elevation
Cabernet Sauvignon on October 7th.
