Sonoma County
2023 Katy's Red Wine
Out Of Stock
Winemaking Notes
A bold red blend that weaves together high elevation Cabernet from the rugged mountains of Northern
Sonoma County with juicy Dry Creek Valley Malbec and old vine Russian River Zinfandel, this wine is
unique and expressive, with wild dark berries, plum and minerality. The wine has a perfect balance
between savory and fruity elements and finishes with long and lingering vanilla and baking spices.
The soft, supple and mature tannins give this wine a strong backbone while the 16 months of barrel
aging have softened the wine enough to enjoy now.
Production Notes
The 2023 vintage is not one we will soon forget. A cool and wet winter led to a budbreak 2-3 weeks later than average. Daytime temperatures throughout the growing season continued to be unusually cool, with averages in the low 70s and the warmest days just reaching into the mid 80s. This led to an exceptionally late harvest – over a full month later than 2022 on average, offering the grapes an extended hang time to develop extraordinary complexity and concentration. Evening pacific breezes from the Sonoma coastline preserved fresh acidity and created beautiful balance with the season’s generous ripe fruit flavors.
